Overview

The Policy Generator creates legally compliant privacy documents tailored to your business. It produces Cookie Policies, Privacy Policies, and Terms & Conditions based on your specific operations, data practices, and regulatory requirements—saving you time and legal costs while ensuring compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.

Three Policy Types

Consently generates three essential legal documents:

  • Cookie Policy — Discloses your website's cookie usage, explains how cookies detected by the Cookie Manager are categorized, and describes visitor consent options. Automatically includes a placeholder table that lists all cookies found during cookie scanning. See Generating Cookie Policies for the full process.

  • Privacy Policy — Documents what personal information you collect, how you use it, who you share it with, and what rights visitors have under various privacy laws. Covers everything from data collection methods to international transfers. See Generating Privacy Policies for details.

  • Terms & Conditions — Establishes the legal relationship between your business and users, covering service usage rules, payment terms, liability limitations, and dispute resolution. See Generating Terms & Conditions for configuration options.

How Policy Generation Works

Policy generation follows a multi-step workflow:

  1. Enter company information once — Provide your business details through Company Information Setup, including legal name, addresses, contact information, and policy URLs. This information applies to all three policy types.

  2. Answer policy-specific questions — Each policy type presents a series of questions about your business practices. Questions adapt based on your answers to ensure relevance.

  3. Review generated content — Consently creates a comprehensive policy document with proper legal structure and section headings. The content reflects your answers and includes jurisdiction-specific clauses.

  4. Edit and customize — Use the rich text editor to refine the generated policy. Add custom clauses, adjust language, or modify specific sections as needed.

  5. Publish or save — Complete the process through Publishing & Editing Policies, where you can publish immediately or save as a draft for later review.

Each policy can be regenerated as your business practices change—simply update your answers and generate a new version.

Multi-Language Support

Generate policies in multiple languages simultaneously to serve international audiences. The Multi-Language Policy Generation feature supports English, French, German, and Spanish, creating separate policy documents for each selected language. This works independently from banner language settings, allowing you to translate policies even if your banner uses different languages.

Legal Disclaimer

Generated policies provide a strong foundation for compliance but are not substitutes for professional legal advice. Consently creates documents based on your inputs and common legal requirements but cannot guarantee full compliance with all applicable laws. For complex business models, sensitive data handling, or regulated industries, consult with a qualified attorney to review and customize the generated policies. You remain responsible for ensuring your policies accurately reflect your business practices and meet all legal obligations.

Getting Started
